DM - Degenerativní myelopatie
DM je progresivní neurodegenerativní onemocnění postihující míchu.
Toto onemocnění se zpravidla objevuje kolem 8 věku života, avšak není vyjímkou, že už kolem 5 roku života.
Průběh nemoci:
1. Nerovnoměrně opotřebené drápy
2. Postupné nebolestivé slábnutí končetin
3. Problémy s koordinací a chůzí
4. Ochabování a atrofie svalstva
5. Ataxie končetin
6. Ztráta rovnováhy
7. Netypicky nosení ocasu
8. Inkontinence
9. Úplná paralýza a ochrnutí
10. Onemocnění dále se rozvájí k hrudníku
11. Omezení pohyblivosti hlavy
12. Porucha polykání
13. Porucha hyblivosti jazyka
14. Stížené dýchání
15. Pokud majitel se do této doby nerozhodl pro eutanázii pes trpí a umírá udušením, podvyživený s nedostatkem tekutin.
Stav se takto pomalu zhoršuje v průběhu 3let od prvního projevu. Většinou však dojde k eutanázii psa cca do 1 roka od prvního příznaku. Nejpozději se majitelé rozhodnou k eutanázii u body 9 z důvodu výše popsané prognózy.
DM je genetické onemocnění a nemá nic společného s onemocněním kloubů. Toto onemocnění postihuje i psi s výsledkem RTG DKK 0/0 či DLK 0/0.
Léčba:
Bohužel pro tuto nemoc neexistuje lék a je neléčitelná.
Doporučuje se udržení svalové hmoty co nejdéle pomocí:
- Fyzioterapie
- Aquaterapie
- Dornovy metody
- Strečinku
Dále se doporučuje:
- Nemít kluzké podlahy, raději umístit koberce a protiskluzové podložky
- Již při špatné chůzi zabránit prochladnutí
- Dávat ochranné psí botičky, jako prevenci před otlaky
- Při ochrnutí pořídit vozík
Doplňky ve formě vitamínů, minerálů a chondroprotektiv jsou zcela neúčinná.
Dědičnost DM je geneticky přenášená od rodičů.
◆ Jedinci DM N/N jsou zcela zdraví, rozvoj nemoci u nich nehrozí.
◆ Jedinci DM N/P jsou přenašeči. Přenášejí gen na své potomky a nemoc se může, ale i nemusí u nich rozvinout.
◆ Jedinci P/P jsou jedinci postiženi u kterých je pravděpodobnost rozvoje nemoci.
DM je prostě onemocnění na které je potřeba dávat si pozor neb zkracuje život psa o polovinu.
Proč si myslím, že by bylo přínosem testovat toto onemocnění:
Genetický test na DM je jedinou metodou pro předčasné zjištění, zdali je u psa riziko DM, že u něj vypukne, nebo že předá tento nežádoucí gen do další generace.
➢ Proto by neměli být kryti psi s výsledkem P/P (postiženi) s jedinci P/P (postiženými). Tito jedinci do chovu vůbec nepatří. Všichni jejich potomci budou postiženi.
➢ Jedinci s výsledkem N/P (přenášeči) krytí s jedinci N/N (čistými) jejich potomci budou buď zdraví nebo přenášeči.
➢ Jedinci s výsledkem P/P (postiženi) kryti s jedinci N/N (čistými) jejich potomci budou všichni přenašeči.
Na závěr:
Myslím si, že onemocnění DM je potřeba dostat do podvědomí majitelů, chovatelů psů tak i do podvědomí veterinarním lékařům, kteří často DM onemocnění zaměňují s projevy artrózy a artritidy.
Aby si lidé uvědomili, že s pomocí genetických testů a jejich zveřejněním a ne zatajováním. Zveřejněním výsledku se následně dá vybírat vhodný chovný pár a tím eliminovány případy DM onemocnění v chovu.
Je velmi smutný pohled na psa trpícího jakýmkoliv onemocněním. Co však je horší, je pohled na majitele takto nemocných psů na jejich zoufalství a nepochopení. Sledovat majitele, kteří musejí udělat rozhodnutí, které je pro ně těžké. Musejí člena rodiny, který je mladý s chutí do života avšak ochrnutý nechat odejít za duhový most kvůli onemocnění DM. Jen díky nezodpovědnost chovatele, který netestoval, nebo vybral nevhodný chovný pár či úmyslně takto kryl.
Jediná prosba co mám na majitele a chovatel testujte své miláčky na DM, ať nezkracujete život svým čtyř nohým miláčků. Své testy zveřejňujte ať jsou jakýkoliv.

Therapy:

◆ DM N/P individuals are carriers. They transmit the gene to their offspring and the disease may or may not develop.
◆ P/P individuals are individuals affected by the probability of disease development.
DM is simply a disease that needs to be careful or shortens the life of the dog by half.
Why do I think it would be beneficial to test this disease:
The genetic test for DM is the only method for premature finding whether the PSA is the risk of DM that it will break out or pass this undesirable gene to the next generation.
